The Ford Mustang - Forty Years on and Still Going Strong
By John Eagle
One of the UK's most well loved American classic cars is undoubtedly the Ford Mustang. The Mustang was first unleashed on the world at the New York Worlds's Fair on 17 April 1964 and proved to be Ford's most successful launch since the A model.
Ford executive John Najjar had come up with a name - he had been a great fan of the World War II fighter plane, the P-51 Mustang - and an American classic was born. The Mustang was the first of the American 'pony cars' - so called because of the sports like features with long bonnets and short rear boots.
A massive publicity campaign was launched in 1964 to promote the Mustang on both TV and the national press and although sales forecasts for the first year had been estimated at 100,000 within 18 months over 1 million had been built. The Mustang even appeared in the James Bond film, Goldfinger, in September 1964 further boosting its popularity.
In the 1970s Ford Motor Company president Lee Iacocca decided a change was necessary. An oil crisis in the middle east and tougher pollution laws meant that large, gas guzzling cars had fell out of favour and the Mustang was no exception. In 1973 a new model - smaller and more fuel efficient was introduced. The Mustang's reduced size saw it compete admirably with imported sports models such as the Ford Capri (then built in the UK and Germany) and the Toyota Celica and the success story continued.
The Mustang has without question sealed its place in American car history being the only 'pony car' to have remained in production continuously for over 40 years although obviously it has seen a number of developments and revisions. And the story continues ....the 2010 model Mustang will be launched in early 2009.

The Ford Mustang - A True Performance Vehicle
By Brian Hanson
Ford Mustang has been the best muscle car ever manufactured. At present there three muscle cars in the market which are in great demand - they are Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro. Among them the Mustang is the best rated because of its features and specifications. The Mustang is an iconic car which is known throughout the world. And it is an epitome of energy, power, luxury and interiors. This is a true American Icon and there are very few cars which embody the rugged American individualism like the Ford Mustang.
The Ford Mustang is admired for its powerful engine, interior designs and iconic exterior, stellar performance and spectacular crash tests. The 2008 is a worthy successor of all previous Mustangs the new 2008 Ford mustang is back with its classic bad boy looks. And again it ranks the top. Till yesterday the V8 engine muscle car era was dying away but today Ford Mustang faces a stiff competition from Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro. Still Mustang wins for its quality and winner costs.
The 2008 Ford Mustang is available as V6 and GT in both Deluxe and Premium trims. They have also introduced the Bullitt trim. The Mustang is also offered as a convertible and it ranks high as the affordable convertible car. The V6 model of Mustang can offer you a mileage of 17/26 mpg but the V8 giant will stick to 15/22 mpg only.
Performance: With its intimidating growl and 300 horsepower the Mustang can be the best American muscle car. The rear wheel drive is a properly refined car in all forms. The engine is perfect compared to Nissan 350Z and Mazda RX-8 which use the V8 engines. There are two engine choices for Ford Mustang. For Deluxe and Premium you have the 4.0 liter V6 engine which is equipped with 210 horsepower for a stout performance. Again the Bullitt, Premium and GT Deluxe with 4.6 liter V8 engine which is able to create a horse power of 300. Thus such engine provides enough power to burn the rubber of your tires.
Though the V6's out is enough to get your blood flow fast the V8 growls like a tiger and moves the majestic way. The new Ford Mustang is clearly faster, sharper and refined than old Mustangs. The performance is vigorous and its exhaust noise is intrusive. Regardless of whether you choose manual shift or automatic shift transmission the fun and thrill remains the same for the new Mustang.
Mustang Engines are one of the engines that http://www.GotEngines.com specializes in.
